I turned in my keys to my apartment today. My very first apartment.
It was a sad moment. Well, actually, it's been a hard couple of weeks.
I didn't want to move, but here I am, sitting in a new apartment. At least my new apartment has fast cable internet.
After moving this past Saturday, I've mostly just sat around and watch TV and movies, save cleaning the entire apartment yesterday and the day before (I even paid the big money to get the carpets cleaned). And Netflix is super fast on the cable internet, so it's not as annoying to watch.
This wasn't my plan, but I'm happy.
There is a garage! I've never had a garage before!
And thanks to my new roomie, she is the best!
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me new herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Malachi 3:10
Thoughts of a crazy Christian, who wants to serve the Lord Jesus by nursing the sick and hurting, and who is learning what it means to be an adult, and who likes to cook and bake, and who is outspoken and strong willed, who is radically pro-life, who likes people to think she has it all together, but really, if not for the grace of God, I'd be a goner.

Cancellation
Long story short, we cancelled Comcast internet and tv, and switched to Verizon internet and Netflix at my apartment.
We were paying $118 /month for Comcast.
Verizon internet is going to be $24 + tax, and Netflix streaming with one DVD at a time out a month is $15.98. So like $40 /month.
SO MUCH CHEAPER. Like a two thirds cheaper. I just hope we can get over not watching the news or presidential debates, but I suspect we can find that on the internet.
And Comcast is mean.
But I'd like to publicly apologize for asking the lady how "shady" Comcast was. I think what I said was, "I just don't know how shady you are." Referring to if they were going to charge me a early cancellation fee.
They should be open on the weekend and a lot of the recent problems we had with them would go away.
And how could anyone work for Comcast?
"Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." Matthew 10:16

Comcast can't do anything right
We had this whole fiasco last month, that I outlined in a blog last month called Comcast is of the Devil.
So today, I got what I thought was this month's Comcast bill. It was $197 and change. Basically $100 more than it should be.
No. No. No. *temper tantrum* No. No. No.
I swear they must know that I have a big test tomorrow, and this is a big hassle.
And because I cannot let anything go, and just handle it tomorrow, me and Kaywa drove over to the Comcast office.
I'm going to be upset if they starting remembering my face and name because I have been there so often.
So apparently they didn't apply the money that we gave them last month to this months bill. Really? And what we got in the mail was a bill for installation! INSTALLATION!?!? REALLY? We've had t.v. and internet since August 13th. We already paid the install fees.
Comcast lady said, for some reason I still don't understand, we were not going to get a November bill, but we would get a bill right before Christmas for more than $200, to catch up for November and December.
Well, to off set the December bill we paid what should be November's bill today. $53 dollars each.
I hope this works out. Apparently we won't have a "normal" bill until January. Goodness and mercy.
"Have mercy on me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death." Psalm 9:13

Comcast is of the devil.
College students must have internet. Wireless internet. Fast internet.
This college experience we have now cannot be fully grasped without internet. From checking email, to checking Facebook, to submitting discussion board questions/answers, to blogging, to papers, to checking Facebook again, I must have the internet.

Here comes Comcast into the picture. They basically have the market cornered. They lured us in with a "two-fer" deal. Internet and t.v. (Tried to convince my roommate, whom I like to call Kaywa, that we didn't need t.v. But when I heard that we would get Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, I relented.) We said yes, and they were going to come set it up in the middle of August. Mother and I drove out to Northwestern VA (not sure I want to tell the internet where I live) to meet the cable guy. It was a Friday, cable guy never showed. Really, cable guy, really? I shouldn't be surprised, but I was. The only amusing part was my Mother yelling at the people on the phone.
Whatever, whatever, confusion, confusion. The cable guy came while I was moving in (note, while I was moving in) later in August. He set up the t.v. and internet in the living room, and then set up the t.v. in Kaywa's room, then left the cable box sitting on the floor in my room because I had not yet moved anything into my room, especially the t.v. The gentleman said it would cost $5 extra a month for each box in the bedrooms; I agreed (although the only time I watch t.v. in my room is on Friday mornings when I don't have class, and I watch the 700 Club and then get out of bed).
Fast forward 6 or so weeks. We have not received a bill yet. I call them. They have the wrong address! They tell me they can change my billing address but not my service address. Not acceptable. That is just confusing and annoying. I live here, the cable box is here, and I want my bill here.
Whatever, whatever, drama, drama. We get our first bill after I leave to go home for Fall break this passed weekend. Kaywa gets it and calls me; $400.64. Really?
Today, I pick up the mail and in it there is a bill that the Post office forwarded to us and a nice little letter saying that Comcast understands that their customers are busy, but that we must pay our bill by the 22nd of Oct or they will be shutting off our service. Really?
After and annoying phone call with some lady that told me, "Do you want me to have someone call you tomorrow to tell you what I'm telling you right now?", we got in the car and drove to Comcast.
They close at 5pm and we got there at 5pm (I thought I read they close at 5:30pm, but that is only on Fridays), but they were nice enough to help us anyway, so I must give them some props for that.
Blah, blah, blah. I paid my half of the bill (with the check my Mother gave me), and Kaywa's mommy is sending us the rest.
I'm not sure if this story makes sense, but the bottom line is, Comcast doesn't know where I live, but I know where they are. Kind of funny. Oh, and I think they have bullet proof glass in front of the windows at the Comcast office. I wonder why?
I should be praying for favor.
"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man." Luke 2:52
